An interview is the stepping stone to a job. Therefore it is very important that you thoroughly prepare for it. You need to be thorough in your interview preparation so that the interviewer does not get a chance to point out any mistake. You need to keep some important points in mind before you go in for an interview. Read on to get very good tips as to how to make your interview a success.

Briefly, you need to do proper research before your interview and then go with a relaxed mind. Try practicing sample questions in advance. Be sincere and polite during the course of the interview and do not forget to send a follow-up thank you letter to the interviewer.

If we talk in detail, then an interview entails a lot of preparation. You need to do a proper research about the organisation you are going in for the interview. Assess yourself and see if your skill set matches with the goals of that particular organisation.

Following is a list of some common questions that you need to prepare before you go in for an interview:

1. How would you describe yourself?

2. Why should I employ you in my company?

3. Dwell upon your strengths and weaknesses.

4. Why did you choose our company for working?

5. How will you distinguish between confidence and over confidence?

6. How is hard work different from smart work?

7. Are you comfortable working on nights and weekends?

8. How well can you perform under pressure?

9. What inspires you to do good job?

10. For how much duration can we expect you to work for us if hired?

There are a variety of interview styles and you should be prepared for all of them as you do not know what you might have to face. One type can be where an interviewer will straight away ask you questions from a list. On the other hand, some interviewers use the conversational style. You can also be asked to represent yourself in words, symbols or graphs. In such a case, you can make use of bar graphs, drawing, pyramid steps etc.

As far as the dressing style is considered, you need to look simple and elegant for the interview. Wear minimal jewellery and comfortable clothes. Be neat and clean and wear formal clothes.

Practice answering your questions. Mould your answers in a way that you are able to convince the interviewer you are the best choice for the job.  Practice your interview in front of the mirror and look where you can improve. Ask your friends to judge your answers and presentation. As they say ‘Practice makes a man perfect’, so rehearse your answers as many times as you can. You will surely be able to clear your interview and get the desired job.
