Campus Placements - How to prepare for it?

Almost all students who get into professional colleges are almost obsessed with campus recruitment from the beginning. Good idea, no doubt. But, do we prepare ourselves for it. It too involves test, interview and evaluation. For this reason it is significant to make serious efforts to get through and the effort should be as good as one makes for any formal test for recruitment. It has been observed that a well prepared student stands far, far better chance than one who is not prepared. The guide to prepare yourself is suggested as under:
1. Know everything important about the company which is coming for campus recruitment and let them (the recruiters) know that you have gained access to the important facts about the company. A candidate was interviewed for the job in TCS. When she was asked what she knew about the historical background of TATAS pat come the answer that She knew only of one industrialist who had shaped the industrial destiny of India and for which aptly he was conferred upon with Bharat Ratna. He was Jamshed ji Tata. No more questions were asked. The candidate got the job. The idea of telling this is to stress the significance of knowing whatever one can about the company. It sounds flattering to the listener.
2. Resume- A resume can be said to be a sort of interview in waiting. It is as if you have been asked to describe yourself in an interview and you are submitting the same in writing. It should be neat and clean, flawlessly typed, well worded, logically sequenced in terms of  chronology, brief but not curt, should highlight all your achievement without bragging.
3. Interview- Go through mock interviews in which the most important part would be how to listen. Learn and practice attentive listening when alone you can answer properly and relevantly. Practice courtesy and humility with dignified confidence without display of arrogance. Know how to highlight your achievements verbally again with humility and yet in a spirit that may be described as “humble pride”. Above all be honest and sincere in what you say. When you are asked about your shortcomings never be indiscrete to say things like, “I am emotional” or “intolerant” or “hasty” etc. Present some of your virtue in such a manner as if that has become some sort of a shortcoming. Say I am truthful to a fault. Never answer a question which you are not sure about it will prove counter productive. Say honestly “I beg to be excused for not knowing the answer”. Add this last line “I shall feel deeply indebted to know what it is to enrich myself”.
A momentous question that arises in the mind of every prospective candidate is- What is it that one has to have to be able to speak and answer confidently. Self confidence? No. Self assurance? No. These things together with lot more follow in the natural course the one and only one virtue – Knowing Oneself. But what is knowing oneself ? It is to know and know with full sense of feeling – responsible feeling – what you are in terms of your qualities, virtues, mental abilities, follies, drawbacks, shortcomings, your character personality traits, even your temperament, and your idiosyncrasy. In the course of this understanding your personality be cautious that you are neither swept by pride nor downed by humility. Simply know what you are without judgment. Be sure that this is indeed possible provided you make an honest effort. Once you have known yourself thoroughly without illusions you will experience a surge of self confidence, a burst of self possession, a spurt of self assurance. You will acquire a calmness that will surprise you too. Thereafter when somebody will praise you, you will not be swept off your feet for you know yourself. When someone criticizes you, you will not be hurt for you know yourself.
